Glos kicked off the game which went straight into touch giving Devon the first scrum in which they overpowered Glos and won a quick ball to kick to touch in the Glos 22m. Glos won the line out only to knock on and give Devon the scrum. Devon dominated the scrum which was a common theme throughout the game.
3 minutes into the game Devon won their own line out ball cleanly by No.5 Archie Gray in the Glos 22m and secured a driving maul which Glos stopped in the first phase but the second phase proved too powerful and prop Albert Dowse drove over for the first try. Devon 5 – 0.
Glos restarted in good vigour attacking the Devon line and were rewarded with a try by a mistake and charge down and Glos No.13 and went over to equal the scores 5-5.
Devon soon piled on the pressure in the Glos 22m pouncing on a Glos mistake and Devon No.10 Lewis Tose went over to score Devon 2nd try 10-5 to Devon.
Glos responded in the 15th minute caused by a poor Devon exit Glos No.11 ran through three missed tackles to score bringing the scores all even at 10-10.
Devon hit back quickly in the 17th minute with a sublime side step by winger James Pullan and went over putting the score Dev 15-10 up.
Glos again responded with a great effort by their full-back went over in the right-hand corner to level the scores 15-15.
Devon scored the last try of the first half in the 24th minute by securing an easy ball at the scrum and the backs working the ball through the hands and down the line into the safe hands of the Devon winger Kai Kidd for a score in the corner making the first half score Devon 20 Glos 15.
During the halftime break, Devon made several changes bringing on their replacements to make sure all players had at least half a game in from of the Southwest England Counties Selectors. Straight from the restart Devon won a penalty and kicked for a line out deep in the Glos 22m. This followed several phases of play deep in the Glos danger zone and replacement Charlie Muir went over for Devon’s 5th try score 25-15.
Devon backrow and vice-captain Ollie Lane scored another try in the 8th minute running a very nice line and going over the whitewash to make the score 30-15 to Devon.
Glos pulled another try back in the 14th minute off the back of a messy line out by Devon and Glos No. 21 capitalised bringing the score to 30-20.
It was not long after and, in the 17th, minute that Devon impact prop Jake Parkes went over for the first of his two tries bringing the score to 35-20 to Devon. Jakes second try came 8 minutes later and the score now 40-20 to Devon.
In the 29th minute and after a sustained amount of pressure Glos crumbled and were forced into sinical foul play and the referee awarded Devon the penalty try bringing the score to 45-20.
At his point it looked like the game was over but credit to Glos they never gave up and managed to get a well deserved try by their replacement No. 21 to bring the score to 45-25
In the final couple of minutes of the game and after a text book well-rehearsed 5m line out replacement prop Ben Winters powered his way over the line from the catch and drive maul. Full time score Devon 50 – 25 Glos
