Devon Women’s County Rugby Ready for New Challenge in Gill Burns Championship

After a historic victory at Twickenham last season, where Devon Women claimed the Gill Burns County Championship Division 3 title, the team is preparing for an exciting new challenge in Division 2.

Their promotion marks a significant step forward, as they now face tougher opposition and an opportunity to continue their upward trajectory in the county rugby landscape.

With trials currently underway, the coaching team is on the lookout for the best talent from across the county to form a squad capable of competing at this higher level. This season also sees a fresh start under new head coach Tom Powell, who brings experience from his time with Okehampton Women. Powell is eager to build on the team’s momentum and guide them through what promises to be a highly competitive campaign.

Devon Women face three challenging fixtures

17th May

vs Gloucestershire at Brixham RFC

25th May

vs Hampshire at Okehampton RFC

1st June

vs Cornwall at Launceston RFC

These fixtures will test Devon’s depth, skill, and resilience, but with the success of last season behind them, they will be looking to make their mark in Division 2.

Devon Women’s County Rugby is not just about winning matches—it is about providing opportunities, developing talent, and fostering a strong community of players representing the best of women’s rugby in the county.
